a sneak peek into my kitchen cabinet

From now on I’ll also be featuring some interesting products that I have in my kitchen. Here’s a little sneak peak!

My friend Giulia and I went to Cacao 70 for desserts and on our way back to the metro, we passed by a Korean/Japanese grocery store and we were thrilled to see all the Asian products inside! We ended up buying tons of food and I got this mini jar of seaweed x soy sauce paste.

Since Giulia is half Japanese and half Italian, she knows a lot more about these fascinating Japanese products than I do. She said this paste goes really well together with rice so I decided to get one. I have a soft spot for everything that can go with rice. She can only pronounce the paste’s name in Japanese though, so if any of you wants to get it, I’m sure it’s not hard to find it with its colourful label on the front !

The paste is pretty thick with lots of tiny seaweed pieces in it.  It’s slightly sweetened and for my first time I actually mixed it with some Japanese soba. I would say it goes well with both rice and noodles. :)

Jangteu also have frozen meat products that are perfect for korean barbeque, a huge varieties of Korean/Japanese/Chinese sauce and snacks. It’s quite an adventure to explore around and a pleasant experience to have an alternative for getting groceries instead of Provigo and Metro!

What a nice post. It’s always nice to know what all people stock on around the world. When you have the time, do drop by my space. I recently made some savoury mousse and would love to know what you think.
