a foodie field trip

“A human being is primarily a bag for putting food into.” – George Owell. Indeed, Terence, Rebecca and I decided to turn ourselves into some huge bags by  going on the ultimate foodie field trip on the Yuen’s siblings last day in Hong Kong. This was our schedule: late lunch at 2pm, all you can eat korean barbeque for dinner and some best shaved ice in town to call it a night.

Sweet and Vinegar Pork Ribs (糖醋排骨)

Steamed pork dumplings. We call them Xiao Lung Bao (小籠包)

Golden thin crust with ham (金華火腿) in syrup

All You Can Eat Korean BBQ. While Terence was fighting in his glorious battle with all those beef ribs and pork/chicken/beef (there were just countless pieces of each kind of meat), I barely ate… my appetite has turned a lot smaller since I got back to HK.

Finally it was time for dessert! We waited for around 20 minutes but it was definitely worth the wait.

There’s also a selection of homemade cookies for the customers to bring home.

Tea jelly – Jasmine, rose, berries …. if I didn’t get them wrong.

Purple in Love. This best shaved ice in town is made with a pile of finely shaved ice, grapes, mini glutinous rice balls, taro mochi and topped with fresh grape juice made with those HUGE JAPANESE GRAPES. This is way too addictive.

Terence’s favourite fruit is mango so of course he ordered this. However, he barely paid attention to it since the grape shaved ice totally covered the taste of mango. So I recommend if you want to try some desserts other than Purple in Love, finish them before you try the grape shaved ice.

The 3 huge bags by the end of the night. See you guys in 2 months!
