Cafe Replika

I came across Cafe Replika while I was doing a cafes research on Yelp in early September and I fell in love with it upon my first visit! This Turkish cafe is located in the Plateau and owned by a lovely couple called Ceren and Ozan. The concept behind the coffee shop is to serve homemade Turkish food with excellent coffee (Turkish and Western style). All the food is made in the store, including yogurt, bread and even croutons in the salad!

One of their specialties is Turkish coffee, which is made by mixing cold water with a fine roast of dark coffee and boiling it together. It was my first time having Turkish coffee and I love its richness. It has a dark chocolatey taste to it and the coffee body is full and heavy, which leaves a lingering taste on your tongue after. Each Turkish coffee comes with a Turkish delight (Replika source them from another store) and it’s a superb complement to the richness of the coffee.

I spent an afternoon reading there and I couldn’t resist having their homemade blueberry roll. It’s very crispy and it’s surprisingly not too sugary. I’ve been going back to Replika in the hope of having another one since, but they don’t really make blueberry rolls anymore. They still have a selection of cinnamon rolls and scrumptious baked goods. I tried the salted dark chocolate cookie and it was absolutely heavenly.

Cafe Replika is definitely one of my favourite cafes in Montreal and despite the distance, I go there at least once a week. It’s a great place to study as the coffee shop is very spacious and fairly quiet. Ceren and Ozan are very friendly and they are more than happy to go through the menu with you if you need any recommendations! I also tried a lot of their food (stuffed vine leaves with lambs and homemade yogurt, scrambled egg with Turkish sausage etc.) and I’ll blog about them in another post!
